Have you read the book, The Secret?
I have to admit I’ve never actually read it, but I do have it on audio which I’ve listened to dozens of times.
The core message of it, is that our thoughts control our lives.
One of the simplest ways they explain it, is that if you’re always thinking about how much debt you’re in, you’ll get more debt. This is because whether you’re thinking of getting out of debt or drowning in debt, it doesn’t matter. Your mind only knows you’re thinking about debt so that’s what you’ll attract.
Instead you have to think about having plenty of money, and then you’ll start to notice opportunities that you couldn’t see before.
It makes sense, doesn’t it?
But what has this got to do with writing more?
Well, it works the same way. When you’re always thinking about writing more, the faster it will happen.
According to the laws of NLP (which is what the basis of The Secret is all about), what you think about you bring about. So if you’re always thinking that you don’t have time to write, you’ll be correct.
On the other hand, if you always think you have plenty of time to write, you’ll be correct.
It’s all about attitude.
I discovered this a few years ago.
I used to write in between living.
Now I live in between writing.
Writing is something I do every day, and when I’ve finished, I get on with other things.
If I have to go somewhere, I rearrange my day so that I still have time to write.
And surprisingly, even though I write for 3 - 4 hours a day, it still gives me plenty of time to live the rest of my life.
It all comes down a change in attitude.
I can say, “I’m too busy to write.”
Or I can say, “I’m too busy writing.”
And I know which I prefer.
