The Incredibly Easy Way to Get More Done and Earn More Money Online
By Ruth Barringham
“Doing what needs to be done may not make you happy, but it will make you great.”
― George Bernard Shaw
When it comes to writing, you have to remember the numbers. By that I mean that the more you write, the more money you can earn.
Why?
Because if you don't write much, or not at all, then how can you expect to make money from your writing?
So the more you write, the greater your income can be.
The problem with reading anything about working online, is that it can make it seem as though there are short cuts to earning money. But there aren't any shortcuts.
Yet this doesn't stop people from continually looking for the easiest and fastest ways to make money online. They waste days/weeks/months/years looking for the fast and simple way to do it.
While at the same time, the real entrepreneurs are simple showing up and doing the work.
Every day they pound away while others procrastinate, worry and generally let life get int he way of what they should be doing. And in the end, they achieve nothing or very little.
So if you're stuck in the "get rich quick" mindset and you've spent years looking for that illusive "secret" to making money online, what should you do instead?
How do you start to make money online?
You just start working. It's that simple. There is no big secret and there's nothing your missing.
The hardest thing about making money online is just simply showing up for work every day. Yet at the same time, it's THE most important thing you can do.
There are many people who work at home as writers making money online, and the way that they do it is by making it a habit to show up for work every day - no matter what.
Just stop and think about it for a moment. How much money could you be earning if you simply sat down and worked for a couple of hours a day? How much would that imporove your online income?
And I don't mean sitting down and surfing the net looking for a quick way to make money. I mean sitting down, writing out what it is you want to achieve, writing out a plan of how to achieve it, and then getting on with working your plan.
How to make working from home easier.
Regular habits make tasks easier. It's easy to do something when it's something that you do regularly every day.
Daily habits are best because doing something so often and so regularly makes you not only better at it but faster too. Just think of things you do daily like brushing your teeth, having a shower, making dinner, etc. How easy is it to do them because they are a daily habit?
Stop overthinking everything.
Another problem that can stop you from showing up for work every day is to overthink everything and think that you have to have to know absolutely everything before you can start. This can lead to putting things off.
You don't have to see the whole staircase to take the first step. It's like driving at night. Your headlights only light up a little of the way in front of you, but you drive anyway, knowing where you're heading and trusting you'll arrive eventually, even if there are a few roadblocks along the way.
Overthinking (worrying) can make you put things off and not start. On the other hand inurtia helps things that are already in motion to stay in motion.
And don't think of things you have to do as a project. Break them down into tasks. You can't do a project but you can complete the tasks necessary to complet the project. So if you need to make a website, break it down into tasks such as "get hosting and a domain name, write web page content, set up email account, etc" because these are "do-able" tasks whereas "make a website" is too overwhelming if you don't know the steps you need to take.
You're not too busy.
You also need to stop putting of your online business until you have time to work on it. If you do that you'll never 'find' the time. You have to MAKE the time.
Being 'too busy' to work on your online business is just another form of procrastination. It's a way to be lazy instead of sitting down and doing what you should be doing.
Having short-term goals can help too. Have a daily goal of what you want to achieve, even if you don't feel you have a lot of time.
For instance, have a daily goal of writing at least 500 words. Or a goal of publishing something online every day (or both) whether it's an article, a Tweet, a blog comment, a marketing article or a short blog post.
Whatever it is you want to acheive every day (and it can be something different every day), just make it a goal to do it.
Stop being too busy with other less important things.
Do some work every day, even if it's just a small amount - it all adds up.
Sit down even if you don't feel like it and be determined to achieve something every day.
Most importantly, just show up every day and do the work.
You can earn far more money if you publish several articles in a month, blog daily/weekly, write and publish ebooks and more.
But how much will you earn if you keep doing nothing except look for shortcuts to earning more money online.
Instead, put in the hours to do the work that will earn you money online and watch how quickly things change.
See how much your online income can grow.
